Open BUP File

Information, tips and instructions

Convert a BUP file to AVI

BUP files, such as VOB and IFO files, are files related to DVD playback media. Each format is a specific tool that is used in the reproduction or recording of these media.

Files with the BUP extension are basically backup copies that are automatically created and stored on your computer or other device by applications or DVD players.

These files are generally created when you start playing the media on the DVD and are stored as image backups of the information on the disc.

In any case, BUP files are usually cataloged as backup files, due to their original utility, and some of the information they may contain is:

  • Menu information
  • Playback information
  • Audio track data and information
  • Chapter data
  • Subtitle data

Converting a DVD to another format will allow you to change the default applications of some media. AVI is a standard video format. However, an AVI file is limited and can only have 2GB of data.

It is necessary to know that the per-se conversion of a BUP file to AVI does not make sense since they are of different utility, therefore talking about converting a BUP file to AVI is, basically, talking about converting a video, in this case VOB, to another video format (AVI), including the (BUP) menu.

  1. The first step is to get a conversion program like WinAVI.
  2. By opening the application and changing the output file type, the "Convert" or "Output" option is selected.
  3. DVD files are added.
  4. Finally, start the conversion of the BUP, VOB and IFO files. WinAVI will automatically start the conversion once you add the files.
